Day 1: ... - RIGA
Arrival in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. Pick-up your rental car, set up at the hotel and there’s probably still time left to stroll cobblestoned streets of the city and make some nice panoramic shots from the upper part of the city. Overnight in Riga.
Day 2: RIGA
Full day to explore the biggest city in the region. The medieval Old Town of Tallinn with a flavor of freshly roasted almonds, ethnographic open-air museum representing household traditions of various regions of Estonia, art museums, cozy cafes. No rush, just like the locals do.
Day 3: RIGA - Jurmala - Kuldiga LIEPAJA
Option 1. Tallinn – Parnu – Riga (315km, 4h 15min). Take the short route via Parnu in order to have more time in Riga. Possible detour to Gauja National Park would add approx 70km and 2h. Night in Liepaja.
Day 4: LIEPAJA - Palanga - KLAIPEDA
A day in Riga. The Art Nouveau architecture of Riga is outstanding and is absolutely a not-to-miss feature of the city. In addition Riga’s ever lively Old Town is perfect ambience to spend your time in.
Latvia’s biggest resort Jurmala is just 20 km away from Riga so you may wish to drive there for some hours on the sandy beaches of the Baltic Sea.
Day 5: KLAIPEDA - Curonian Spit - KLAIPEDA
Another bit of driving today. First you reach Rundale Palace of the 18th century (80km, 1h 20min), which is Latvia’s main attraction and has well deserved the title. Later head to the Hill of Crosses (75km, 1h) and expect to spend some 30min at this unique place. Then you have to reach Vilnius (220km, 2h 30min) for the night.
Day 6: KLAIPEDA - Hill of Crosses - Rundale Castle - RIGA
Your holiday is coming to an end, so enjoy this full day in Vilnius, the beautiful baroque city. Maybe take an escape drive to Trakai (27km, 30min), the ancient capital of Lithuania. The medieval Trakai Castle among the lakes is the main attraction here.
Day 7: RIGA - ...
Departure home day. Fill the tank full on the way to the airport where you drop the car before your flight home.
